14th Annual Inclosure Walk 3 July 2016

certificateAbout 50 people came to the 14th Inclosure Walk on Sunday 3 July 2016. It was a lovely day – not too hot and not too cold.  In all, we walked about 5 miles, from Wilford Bridge in the Meadows to the Inclosure Oak, near the Mansfield Road entrance to the Forest.  On the way, we stopped at Queen’s Walk Recreation Ground, Midland Station, Shire Hall/St Mary’s Church and Victoria Park.  After Victoria Park, we climbed up hill along Robin Hood Chase then down-hill on Corporation Oaks/Elm Avenue, before visiting the Arboretum, the General Cemetery, strolling along Waterloo Promenade and ending up on The Forest.  Some people left part way through, while others joined along the way.  Everyone who did the complete walk got a certificate.  Some stayed on for a coffee.

At each stop, either Judith Mills or Jonathan Coope (from the Nottingham Green Spaces project) gave a short talk about the history of the place. It was a most enjoyable, if exhausting, afternoon.
